Lions Park Playground Replacement Project

Lions Park Playground Replacement Project

The Warrenville Park District is excited to announce that we have been selected to receive a GameTime/PlayCore grant through the Statewide Healthy Play Education and Funding Initiative. This grant will be applied to the Lions Park playground replacement to be completed this year.

Community focus is important when designing parks to meet the needs of the community. Public Input Meetings were held on August 14 and August 17 to discuss playground replacement options at Lions Park. A selection of the playground was made based on the community feedback and was approved by the Board of Commissioners on August 24. The playground below has been ordered and installation will occur this fall, followed by a Ribbon Cutting in the Spring. The old playground will be donated to Kids Around the World. This organization establishes playgrounds in poverty-stricken communities, restoring the opportunity for kids to enjoy the kind of play that is key to their physical, emotional, spiritual and cognitive development.

Comments or questions regarding this project can be sent to Executive Director, Tim Reinbold at timr@warrenvilleparks.org.
